Severe Weather Alert

A flash flood warning is in effect for portions of southwest and south central Alabama and all of the northwest Florida Panhandle from the evening of Tuesday, Dec. 1, through the morning of Wednesday, Dec. 2. Most of these locations will see rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches with bands of 5 to 8 inches possible.

"You should be waking up (Wednesday) to a pretty good rain, a pretty good soaking," said Joe Maniscalco, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Mobile.

He said winds would also be increasing throughout the day Tuesday, especially along the coast. Gusts could reach as high as 35 mph.

Tides will also be anywhere from 1 to 3 feet above normal, he predicted.
