Remembering 9-11

The Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps at Navarre High School will commemorate the eighth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on New York, Washington D.C. and the foiled attempt that ended with a third plan crashing in a Pennsylvania field.

The ceremony will kick off at sunrise, when the cadets will read a name and place a flag for each person that perished in the attack.  The memorial will culminate with a brief service at the school’s flagpole at 10:30 a.m.

The attacks on the World Trade Center took place at 8:46 a.m. and 9:02 a.m. on Sept. 11, 2001 and claimed 2,819 lives.

The public is invited to participate in the ceremony and are encouraged to bring flags to place at the memorial in remembrance of the day.
