Santa Rosa Sheriff's deputies used a towel, ropes and electrical tape to capture a five-foot long alligator about 5:30 p.m. Friday just south of Segura Street on State Road 87. Witnesses said the alligator came from the east side of SR 87 and lay briefly on the asphalt before continuing to the west side of the road. Tiger Godwin, a trapper from Baker contracted with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to remove nuisance alligators, said the animal was too large to be relocated. He said it will be killed and its meat and hide sold.
