At 9 a.m. Monday, April 20, Gulf Breeze Police Resource Officer Kerstan Tatro confronted 61-year-old Judy Hall of Gulf Breeze at the school parking lot.

Hall had come to the school to talk with Tatro about an incident that occurred at the school on Friday involving her son. He told her to meet him in his office with her son to discuss the matter. Tatro went to his office and observed Hall outside in the parking area, according to the Gulf Breeze Police Department's press release. 

 

Her son approached her and the two conversed in the parking lot. The son appeared to be nervous and watched the school resource officer's window continually. The son's actions led the officer to believe that there was a problem. The officer saw Hall taking her trench coat from her car and putting it on, said the press release.

 

As soon as the officer saw this action he confronted Hall. The officer spoke with the woman who said after a brief conversation, "Anyone could walk into the school with a trench coat on and a gun in their pocket and start killing people." She also told the officer that she had a .38 gun in her pocket. The officer took Hall into custody and found a handgun in the pocket of the trench coat and a large knife, according to the press release.

 

Additional officers arrived to assist Tatro and found another loaded handgun in Hall's truck and the officers found out that Tatro had interrupted her before she could put the other gun in her coat. When asked what she was trying to do, Hall replied that she was going to make a point. Hall was transported to Gulf Breeze Police Department where she was booked for carrying a concealed firearm, bringing a gun onto school campus and resisting arrest without violence, said the press release.

 

Gulf Breeze Police found five more guns at Hall's home on Finch Drive: two handguns, two rifles and a shotgun, according to the press release.
