Storm damages homes in Chumuckla

A  tornado or straight-line winds damaged seven homes on Bell Creek Road in Chumuckla at about 6 a.m this morning, according to a Santa Rosa County news release.

No injuries were reported and no Red Cross assistance has been requested by residents. Four of the homes had very minor damage, two had roof damage from fallen trees and one with wind damage to about 30 percent of the roof. Several trees are down in the area.

 

Multiple downed power lines have been reported in the northern end of the county.

 

A downed tree blocked State Road 87 North and Letcher Black Road, but has been cleared by public works. A tree also fell on Gordon Land Road and Hwy 4. Public works crews were still clearing this area at 8 a.m. Both roads are in the Berrydale area.

 

At this time there are no reports of road flooding. Public works crews are checking low-lying area roads for flooding.
