Senator knocks on doors in Hidden Creek

With the temperatures hovering near 90 on July 31, State Sen. Don Gaetz put on his smile – and walking shoes – and hit the pavement, going door-to-door in Holley by the Sea.

“I’m not here to sell you anything and I’m not running for anything. I’m just here to say hello,” said Gaetz as Kathy Cummings opened her door.  “Here is my e-mail address and phone number in case you want to talk about any legislative issues.”

“It’s good to hear that,”  Cummings replied, smiling.  “I do have some questions I’d like to ask you. I will definitely be e-mailing you.”

Gaetz, along with his aides and local Realtor Bart Pullum, walked the street of Masters Boulevard in Hidden Creek, knocking on nearly 30 doors, handing out his personal contact information and chatting up the residents.

“I don’t a senator should be an unapproachable figure that sits behind a walnut desk in the capitol building,”  said Gaetz, who represents the Fourth District.  “That’s not how it should operate. I don’t want people to perceive that.”
