Hundreds attend Ian Lockwood memorial

Teammates and fellow students of Ian Lockwood walk onto the field for the memorial held Feb. 4.Gio Randolph is followed by his teammates and fellow students as he carries Ian Lockwood’s football jersey onto the field during the memorial to Lockwood, Feb. 4.

More than a thousand students, friends of the Lockwood family, parents and community members attended a memorial at the Navarre High School Football field to remember Lockwood. The large crowd withstood cold temperatures and rain to be a part of the memorial.

Urban Meyer, former Florida Gator’s coach, gave a speech at the memorial. Meyer and Lockwood made fast friends after Meyer visited Lockwood at Shands and later gave Lockwood the game ball when his team won the Outback Bowl.

Video clips of Meyer’s speech and the memorial will also be available on Navarrepress.com.
