FDOT public meeting

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a public information meeting regarding proposed improvements to State Road (S.R. ) 30/U.S 98 from Bayshore Road to Portside Drive. The meeting will be held Thursday, October 28, 2010, from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. (CST), at the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church Community Life Center, 4115 Soundside Drive, Gulf Breeze, FL This meeting will allow citizens an opportunity to preview the proposed design, ask questions, and / or submit comments concerning the upcoming transportation improvement project.

The proposed project will reconstruct S.R. 30/ U.S. 98 from Bayshore Road to Portside Drive with a six-lane divided, urban roadway that will include four-foot bike lanes and six-foot sidewalks. Other improvements along the project will include the construction of stormwater management ponds. Additional right-of-way will be required at some intersections and at the locations for the stormwater management ponds. The project extends from the eastern edge of the Naval Live Oaks Reservation to just east of the Portside Drive intersection, a distance of approximately 4.25 miles. Construction is currently not funded in the department's Five Year Work Program.

Maps, drawings and other information will be on display. FDOT representatives will be available to explain the improvements and answer questions. There will not be a formal presentation or public testimony period. Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability of family status.
