Vets stand down

The Department of Veterans Affairs Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System will conduct a Homeless Veterans Stand Down event for homeless veterans in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties at the Joint Ambulatory Care Center on Oct. 22.

The event is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. The JACC is located at 790 Veterans Way on U.S. Highway 98 in west Pensacola, next to the Navy Hospital.

Stand Downs are one part of the VA's efforts to provide services to homeless veterans. Stand Downs are typically one to three day events providing services to homeless veterans such as food, shelter, clothing, health screenings, VA and Social Security benefits counseling, and referrals to a variety of other necessary services, such as housing, employment and substance abuse treatment.

For more information about the stand down, please call 850-912-2268 or 850-912-2380.
