Polls closed, election results trickling in

Though polls in Santa Rosa County are closed, primary election results are still trickling in.  As of 8 p.m., Republican Jim Melvin was ahead in the Board of County Commissioners District 4 race, edging out incumbent Gordon Goodin by a more-than 10 percent margin, 40 percent versus 29 percent, respectively.

In other races, Diane Coleman was ahead in her bid for a coveted seat on the School Board, while Scott Thomas Peden was reported to be ahead of competitor Tom Naile for the School Board seat left vacant by Ed Gray III.
