Hurlburt Field exercises attack on base response capability

The 1st Special Operations Wing at Hurlburt Field will conduct a simulated attack on base and force protection exercise Monday, July 12 during normal duty hours.

The purpose of the exercise is to practice the 1st SOW's ability to respond to an on base threat or an attack on Hurlburt Field.

Communities neighboring Hurlburt Field could potentially hear exercise related simulated gunfire, sirens and the base's "Giant Voice" loudspeaker as inspectors simulate an incident taking place on Hurlburt Field and the response actions.  Additionally, traffic on Highway 98 may be impacted for a very limited time due to exercise related force protection measures. The impact should be minimal.

Although the 1st SOW has been deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom since October 2001 and Operation Iraqi Freedom since March 2003, these exercises are necessary to keep security and force protection responses sharp and viable here at home, ensuring the safety and security of all Hurlburt Air Commandos.
