Heavy rain causes two-car collision

No one was injured following a two-car collision Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Edgewood Drive and U.S. Highway 98.

Around 4 p.m., William B. Edwards, 52, of Gulf Breeze, was traveling east on U.S. 98, approaching the intersection of Edgewood Drive, according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release.

At the same time, Garrin G. Stuteville, 23, of Navarre, was traveling south on Edgewood Drive approaching U.S. 98.

Edwards lost control of his vehicle just before the intersection and allowed the vehicle to travel toward the median area of U.S. 98 and Edgewood Drive, the release states.

Edwards' car rotated counterclockwise to the paved median area at the same time Stuteville was crossing the west lanes of U.S. 98.

As Edwards' vehicle rotated, it crossed into Stuteville's path, striking the rear right side of Stuteville's car.

Both cars were traveling during a time of heavy rain.

Edwards was citing for careless driving.
