Santa Rosa County denied funding for booms

"BP stands for 'back-pedal' and 'blood pressure.' "

Thus, Santa Rosa County Commission Chairman Gordon Goodin introduced the bad news that funding for booming that Santa Rosa County had planned and gotten approved by the Deepwater Horizon Response Unified Command in Mobile, Ala., had  been suddenly denied just minutes before a special meeting called by the commissioners to explain what Santa Rosa County is doing to address the possible invasion of oil on its shores and into its inner waterways.

Discussion then turned to whether or not the county needs to "front" the money to boom shores and double-boom the county's major bridges, to do something to prepare for a possible oil infiltration.

The latter question was not resolved, and commissioners adjourned after approximately 90 minutes of discussion, to participate in a phone conference with state officials.
