Private prison considers SRC facility

A 2,000-bed, $100-million private corrections facility could create 400 new long-term jobs and a short-term economic jolt.

“A construction project that huge will put a lot of our people back to work,”  Santa Rosa County Commissioner Don Salter said Monday at the commission‘s committee meeting in Milton.
An unidentified international company that manages correctional facilities is considering a site in East Milton near the existing state correctional facility and the 160-acre parcel the county bought for industrial park expansion. TEAM Santa Rosa Inc., the county’s economic development agency, has dubbed the prospect  “Project Justice”  and coordinated efforts between the landowner who owns the prospective property, the City of Milton and the East Milton Water System to develop an attractive incentive package.
