The warm weather in Florida attracts many tourists and new residents alike.
However, summer months on the Emerald Coast are known for high temperatures and humidity. Whether you choose to worship or shun the sun, there are ways to mitigate the danger.
“With average high temperatures of 90 degrees in our summer months, our area is particularly susceptible to heat-related illness. Especially at risk are the very young, very old and debilitated people. It’s important to take note of what you can do to protect yourself and loved ones,” said Richard Russo, M.D., Baptist Medical Park – Nine Mile urgent care physician.
Russo suggests that those who choose to go into the heat drink additional fluids, even if you are not active. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink.
