Teach a kid to fish, create an optimist

Some of the previous winners of an Optimist fishing rodeo show off their fish. The boy’s flounder earned him the $1,000 cash grand prize.The Gulf Breeze Optimists are hosting their 36th annual fishing rodeo at the Shoreline Park South in Gulf Breeze May 14 and 15.

The rodeo begins at 5 a.m. both days and weigh-ins will be from 3 through 6 p.m. Saturday and 2 through 5 p.m. Sunday.

Vern Rhoades, rodeo chairman, said they are hoping to see a lot of children at the event.
