The Gulf Breeze Dog Lovers Association already has accomplished a lot in a few short years, but members are focusing now on a new goal.
Association President Chip Fosgate said the volunteer group was working toward establishing a beach area for dogs to enjoy. Currently, dogs are not allowed on any beach in Santa Rosa County.
"The big project we're doing is working with the city of Gulf Breeze to change the laws regarding having dogs on public park land," he said. He said the association had support from City Administrator Edwin Eddy and Recreation Director Ron Pulley to rescind certain portions of the law to allow dogs on state land.
If and when the group accomplishes that, the next step would be to build a trail and pathway down to the water at Shoreline Park.
