Pet dental health affects total health

Dr. Henri Escuriex uses equipment you would find in a dentist’s office for his animal patients. Many times vets need to put the animal under anesthesia in order to perform the dental work. Oral hygiene is an important part of every human’s daily routine, and veterinarians say it should also be a part of your pet’s daily habit.
February is National Pet Dental Month and vets are urging pet owners to focus more on their pet’s oral hygiene so the pet will stay healthy overall, including Dr. Henri Escuriex of Soundside Animal Hospital.
“There is a very high correlation in dogs, and even in people, between periodontal disease and heart, liver and kidney problems,” Escuriex said.
