Silver Star awarded to ‘JAG 28’

 

Senior Airman Mark Forester enjoys some down time with local children while deployed downrange in Afghanistan.

The family of U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Mark Forester was at Hurlburt Field on June 15 to receive the airman’s Silver Star, awarded to him for “gallantry and devotion to duty in the dedication of service to his country,” according to the citation accompanying his medal.

Forester was killed on Sept. 29, 2010 in Uruzgan Province, Afghanistan during combat operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He had been assigned to 21st Special Tactics Squadron at Pope Air Force Base, N.C.
