Military New wing at Hurlburt

New wing at Hurlburt

Lt. Gen. Eric Fiel presided over the standing up of the new 24th Special Operations Wing and presented the Wing Flag to Col. Robert Armfield, the first commander of the newest wing at Hurlburt Field.

Many have said that the elite men and women of Air Force Special Tactics didn’t get the recognition they deserved because they were in groups and squadrons and didn’t have their own wing.

That all changed when the 24th Special Operations Wing (24th SOW) stood up at Hurlburt Field on June 12 just four miles east of the edge of Navarre. The 24th SOW is solely devoted to special tactics forces. This new structure will help with training, operations, consolidate all the resources and control of the assets and provide more visibility.
