All state and national flags at the county courthouse in Santa Rosa County will be flown at half-staff today in honor of Private First Class Matthew C. Colin.
Colin, a Navarre resident and 2007 graduate of Navarre High School, was killed Nov. 16 in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Colin was assigned to A Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Wainwright, Alaska.
The state and national flags at the capitol in Tallahassee will also be flown at half-staff.
A funeral service for Colin will be held today aboard NAS Pensacola at 11 a.m., followed with a burial with full military honors at Barrancas National Cemetery.
