Hurlburt Field’s Sound of Independence

Hurlburt Field will once again host “Sound of Independence,” a Fourth of July celebration for Department of Defense cardholders and their guests.

The celebration kicks off at 3 p.m. July 1 at the Hurlburt Field Marina. There will be fireworks, games, food, prizes and entertainment by a live band and D.J.

Admission and rides are free. Food and beverages available for a fee. No parking at event site, all parking will be on main base with a shuttle carrying guests to and from the event grounds.
Schedule of events:

  • 3 – 9:30 p.m.: Event begins with live local band, “The Rowdies” and DJ Dave 
  • 5 p.m. – Presentation of Colors (stage), National Anthem, Freedom Dance
  • 5:30 p.m. – 23rd annual Cardboard Boat Regatta race on the beach
  • 6 p.m. – 1SOW/CC opening comments and the presentation of awards
  • 9 p.m. – Spectacular Fireworks on the sound

Shuttle details:
No coolers, beer or pets allowed. Pick up locations are at the 505th CCW parking lot, 1 SOCES parking lot, AFSOC/HQ parking lot, and the BX/Commissary parking lot.

Shuttles will start at 2:30 p.m. and run continuously until the last guest has returned to base.
