Pets arrived at Pet Nation in star-shaped sunglasses, spring dresses and bandanas ready for their close up so they could be the stars of Navarre Press’ Pet Page.
On April 2, Navarre Press along with Pet Nation celebrated the first year anniversary of the Pet Page with a photo shoot for Pet of the Week and prize drawings. More than 30 dogs showed up for their debut along with a hamster. See the Pet Page for their photos. If you weren’t able to make it out for the event, send your pet’s picture to pets@navarrepress.com to have it in the paper.
Pet Nation was one of the first advertisers for the Pet Page, but owner, Holly Elassaad is also the artist for the pet page comic, “Trouble in Navarre.” “Trouble in Navarre” is not only a light-hearted comic for all ages, but it has also highlighted all the major events in Navarre from the opening of the dog park to Mardi Gras and spring break.
Over the last year, the Pet Page has brought pet lovers news revolving around pets. The page has featured stories about pet care, pet beauty, what types of animals make good pets and those that might be challenging as well as stories about local standouts such as the Navarre search and rescue dog, Maggie. Other headlines have been “The heat is on,” “Pets need to buckle up, too” and several about those families willing to foster needy pets.
New to the Navarre Press, in conjunction with the Pet Page, is the Lost/Found forum for pets. If you have found or lost a pet, then Navarre Press is your stop to either finding your pet or letting the community know you are housing a wayward animal. Go to navarrepress.com/lostpet to post the necessary information and even a picture so pets can be reunited with their owners.
