Whiting Field celebrates being a part of Navy centennial

This year, 2011, marks the 100th anniversary of the year the Navy purchased its first two airplanes, according to a commander from Naval Air Station Whiting Field.
During the Military Affairs Committee on March 7, Commander Jonathan Lewis came from Whiting Field to speak about the centennial. May 8 of 1911 marks the date of the beginning of naval aviation.
