Florida is one of the worst polluters in the U.S., according to a report by the National Resources Defense Council, which ranked Florida sixth on a list of the most toxic states.
The NRDC found that overall; there was a 19-percent decrease in all air toxics emitted from power plants in 2010, including a 4-percent drop in mercury emissions. Two factors are thought to be the reasons behind the improvement in toxic emissions.
