FDA delays sunscreen label changes

 

The Federal Food and Drug Administration allowed sunscreen manufacturers to delay implementation of new rules that govern labels on sunscreen designed to ease consumer confusion.

The FDA announced in 2011 that sunscreen manufacturers would have one year to comply with new labeling standards and guidelines for the meaning of selected terms commonly found on sunscreen products.
