One year ago, Pam Purdy decided something had to change.
The Navarre resident had been suffering with back and neck pain due in part to a job that had her sitting at a desk most of the day.
Now, instead of sitting at a desk and working, Purdy walks on a treadmill set up in her office that doubles as her desk. The change from sitting to standing during the work day has made all the difference in the world to Purdy.
“Physically, I have more energy, and when I go home I don’t just want to go home and sit,” said Purdy, who works at Reliable Land & Title in Navarre.
The treadmill desk, a Signature 9000, was an investment, but the dividends have paid off. She has dropped a pant size and consistently walks about three miles a day while talking to clients, answering emails and filling out paperwork.
“My intention wasn’t to see how much weight I could lose,” said Purdy. “It was just to exercise.”
