Properly installing a child safety seat can be a matter of life or death.

Eight out of 10 child seats are installed incorrectly, errors that have the potential for devastating results in a car accident.

“The No. 1 killer for children age 1 and up in accidents is from car seats not put in properly,”  said Ginny Hinton of the Santa Rosa County Health Department.

On average, parents make two or three errors in the setup of the car seat, Hinton said.

Getting a seat installed properly is not a difficult task in Santa Rosa County. There are 12 certified technicians in the county, four of which are near Navarre.
