Defeating Diabetes through prevention, education

Here, a group of dinner party attendees, are gathered around a table serving themselves from a wide varieties of foods, representing a number of different food groups: grains, fruits, vegetables, milk products, meats/poultry/fish, and nuts/seeds/legumes.Diabetes may be a word that Americans are used to hearing, but understanding the risks and complications of the disease is more complex. 

Diabetes affects more than 25.8 million people in the United States and an estimated 7 million more have the disease, but remain undiagnosed, according to the American Diabetes Association website.
Many Americans have little understanding of the devastating effects diabetes can have, and how to minimize their family’s risk of developing it.
