Gov. Scott touts $2,500 teacher raise

Gov. Rick Scott’s proposal to raise teachers’ salaries meets skeptical optimism this week around Santa Rosa County.

“I am on the fence. I feel the teachers deserve the raise, but I also feel the funds could be used for other educational programs,” said Kimberly Taylor, a parent of a Holley-Navarre Intermediate School student.

As part of his proposed 2013 state budget, Scott announced Jan. 23 he would recommend all full-time teachers in Florida classrooms receive a $2500 raise.
