Students and staff at Woodlawn Beach Middle School were surprised by a caravan of teachers and administrators from around Santa Rosa County on Jan. 27 when Superintendent Tim Wyrosdick came to present the Teacher of the Year award to Jeffery Baugus.
Baugus, who has been teaching since 2008, is an eighth grade math and Algebra I Honors teacher at WBMS, was shocked when Wyrosdick entered his room to announce the award.
As teachers and students heard the commotion, they lined the hallways outside of Baugus’ classroom and began chanting “Baugus! Baugus! Baugus!” until their teacher emerged, to thunderous applause.
