The cadets in Navarre High School's NJROTC program have reason to celebrate yet again, winning big in the annual ESCAROSA Drill Meet on Dec. 10.
Twelve area high schools competed for the title of Best in Drill, and the Raider Battalion placed first overall.
The cadets also earned several individual honors including first-place in Knockout Drill, won by Connor Black; first-place Female Sit-ups, won by Baylen Maynard; and second-place Male Sit-ups, taken by Zach Todd.
"They are truly amazing," said Captain Mark Eubanks, one of the NJROTC program instructors.
Cadets volunteered to take place in the meet, said NHS junior Jinah Burman.
"It's kind of like a sports team," she said. "You try out and either you make the team or you don't."
Cadets at the meet braved the winds and cold temperatures to be at MHS at 6:30 a.m. for the competition, but they did not consider it a hardship.
