Joie DeStefano, Principal of Holley Navarre Middle School, has been named Florida's Middle School Literacy Leader of the Year by the Florida Department of Education.

The state level literacy leaders were selected from among district nominees. Statewide leaders were chosen "based on their commitment to literacy and their proven ability to promote and teach others about the fundamental skill of reading." according to the press release from Santa Rosa County Schools.

"My cohorts nominated me," said DeStefano, who credits her staff for implementing the policies to promote literacy.
