Firefighters bring message of safety to school

The Holley-Navarre Fire District is celebrating Fire Prevention Month in a big way.

Gimpie the Clown and Sparky the Fire Dog  paid a visit to West Navarre Intermediate School on Oct. 10 to kick off the district’s annual education program for children.

The students found seats in front of the stage in the cafeteria as footage of Navarre’s firefighters putting out fires that were started by children played in the background.

Lt. Howie Rounsaville kicked off the event by talking to students about the different ways that fires can start and showing them a picture of how destructive fire can be.
