The top scholars at Navarre High School are serious about three things: studying, sports and fun.
And though all three admit studying is a top priority, each said they wouldn’t be able to hit the books if it weren’t for all the other things in their lives.
“Finding a balance is important,” said senior Alexandra Schlechte. “After all, I’m not sure how I’d be able to concentrate on my studies if I didn’t have other things in my life.”
Schlechte, along with fellow classmates Leah Charitat and Mark Matechik, have been named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists, a distinction that ranks them among the highest in the nation for test scores, and makes them eligible for an array of college scholarships.
