Santa Rosa County and the State of Florida announced that unemployment rates are the lowest they have been since 2008.
Santa Rosa County’s March 2013 unemployment rate of 6.1 percent is at the lowest level in approximately five years when the October 2008 rate was also 6.1 percent. The latest numbers are down from 8.4 percent in March 2012 and 6.7 percent in February of this year. Santa Rosa County ranks 46 out of 67 Florida counties, with only 18 counties in the state having a lower unemployment rate (not seasonally adjusted) for March 2013. Santa Rosa County’s rate continues to be lower than both the national and state unemployment rates.
