The Florida sales tax holiday scheduled for this weekend will give parents a chance to save money while preparing to send their children back to school.
The 2012 sales tax holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. Aug. 3 and ends at 11:59 p.m. Aug. 5, 2012 for sales on clothing, footwear, certain accessories and certain school supplies. However, finding out what is exempt and what is not can be a little confusing. Barrettes and bobby pins are exempt from sales tax, but watches are not; hunting vests are exempt from sales tax, but sales tax does apply to bicycle and sports helmets.
