Local advocate named Citizen of the Year

The Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce held its 2012 Installation and Awards Banquet Jan. 14 at the Soundside of Hurlburt Field.

The 136 guests in attendance were treated to a night of international intrigue, music, dinner and guests speakers. The highlight of the evening came when the awards were presented to Chamber members that made a difference in the Navarre community and surrounding areas in 2011. For her commitment to the Navarre area, Etta Lawlor was selected for and received the Citizen of the Year award.

"It was a complete surprise," said Lawlor. "A treasure of a lifetime."

In presenting the award to Lawlor, Kelley Fuller, the Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce membership director, stated that the Citizen of the Year award is "presented to a citizen whose commitment to Navarre clearly stands out in the last year."
