The Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce picked up 64 new members during a recent membership drive.
Kelley Fuller, chamber membership director, said she was thrilled with the results, especially since the teams only had a two-hour crash course on all the advantages and benefits of being a member.
“We set a goal of 50 so the teams far exceeded that goal,” she said.
Chamber members were divided into teams to compete against each other for recruiting the most new members.
The Norm’s Nomads team, led by Norm Crowder with Gilmore Insurance, won the competition and a new TV by recruiting 29 members.
Crowder said the benefits of being a chamber member sold themselves, but the additional incentive package with the membership drive made it even more appealing.
“So for people who were just on the edge of signing up, the incentive package really pushed them over the edge,” he said, adding that the advertising benefits donated by Navarre Press and other newspapers were a major selling point for businesses.
