AppRiver: Florida Trend’s ‘Best Place to Work’

Gulf Breeze-based company AppRiver, an international leading provider of email and web security, placed seventh on Florida Trend magazine’s list of “100 Best Companies to Work for in Florida.”

AppRiver spokesman Jim McClellan said it was the third year in a row that the company made the list, which is based on an evaluation of employee satisfaction, salaries, benefits and work environment.

“It all starts with the company’s commitment to phenomenal care of our customers 24 hours a day and seven days a week support from U.S. based employees,” he said. “We want to be the best and continue to get better.”

The company now has more than 140 employees and 45,000 clients but started out in 2002 with two guys and the smallest office in its current building in Gulf Breeze. Founders Michael Murdoch and Joel Smith started with an idea for providing affordable email and web security for businesses and ended up being the pioneers of what is now known as cloud computing.
