With September just around the corner, members of the Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce goverment affairs committee want to make sure all their I’s are dotted and their T’s crossed when discussing hurricane recovery efforts.
“After (Hurricane) Ivan, remember the community, the economy, commercial and civic (groups) came to a standstill,” said T.J. Doherty, who is a chamber and Community Emergency Response Team member. “… It took the community a long time to get back in the swing of things.”
The chamber’s government affairs committee gathered July 19 to brainstorm ways to streamline that “after the storm” communication process.
One suggestion, offered by Doherty, was to form a disaster recovery group. Its purpose would be to improve the lines of communication between Navarre and the Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners.
