Here's looking at you: Jake and Cassie Van Schoyck

“You gotta be a football hero to get along with a beautiful girl,” at least that’s what the song says.

Gulf Breeze resident, Jake Van Schoyck got a beautiful girl, but it was his outstanding talent on  their high school baseball and basketball teams that captured the attention of Reynoldsburg (Ohio) high school cheerleader, Cassie Bingham.

“Reynoldsburg didn’t have a football team, so I had to wait until I got to college to play football … all I wanted to do was run the ball, hit it, or bounce it,” added the imminent all-sports star.

I asked if this high school jock chased her, and Cassie, fingers covering a shy smile, whispered, “Nooo…”

“Ha, big time, I did,” scoffed Jake, “big time!”

“Well … but I dated other boys …” she murmured, a hint of crimson tinting her cheeks.
