Church ‘skates’ out to youth with Boardriders

Noticing a gap between today’s youth and religion, the Calvary Chapel in Gulf Breeze created a ministry bridge between the two.

12_11_boardriders_text.jpgBoardriders, created seven years ago, targets all youth from intermediate school to high school, through the commonality of skateboarding.
“It’s definitely unique,” said Zack Hinrichs, 21, the ministry’s coordinator. Hinrichs is also a pastor-in-training at the church. “Skateboarding is big with today’s youth, and we take that and use it to draw kids so we can share about the love of Jesus Christ.”
