“He’s a changed man,” said Santa Rosa County Tax Collector Stan Nichols of his youngest son, Bryce, who recently returned from a mission trip to Nicaragua.
The Nichols family had departed with Surfers on a Mission, an international Christian outreach group that stayed 10 days, but Bryce ended up spending four months and coming back with a new mission for his own life.
“On the last wave of the last day before others returned home, Bryce broke an expensive competition surf board he had saved up to buy. He was crushed, but the very next day he visited an orphanage for children with disabilities and saw kids who had been abandoned. It was very humbling and life-changing for him. It changed his perspective. Bryce now wants to pursue a career in medicine and work with an organization like Doctors without Borders,” Nichols said.
