New crib laws protect babies

File PhotoEffective June 28, baby crib regulations have changed, making most of the cribs used in this country a thing of the past.

Nychelle Fleming, spokesperson for the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the commission voted on these changes in December.

“There was implementation time needed, so the effective date was June 28 for consumers to see a safer generation of cribs on the market,” said Fleming.

She also said though the focus for most people has been the discontinuation of the drop side feature in cribs, there are other changes that people need to know about.
