The process of repairing the damage caused by hurricanes Gustav and Ike has just begun, according to Roger Blaylock, the Santa Rosa County chief engineer and Navarre Beach executive director.

"With turtle-nesting season and hurricane season five months out, does it look like the work will be completed before then?”  County Commissioner Gordon Goodin asked at the commission’s Jan. 5 committee meeting, “We have just received approval for Coastal Technologies to proceed with helping us,”  Blaylock replied. Coastal Tech, the county’s beach consultant, will help develop the scope of work and fee schedule before the project is permitted and bid. Blaylock said the permitting process can be daunting.
