Beach renourishment process begins

Santa Rosa County Commissioners gave Michael Walther of Coastal Technology Corporation the authority to begin the permitting process for Navarre Beach renourishment during a Jan. 24 Board of County Commissioners’ meeting.

Although beach renourishment won’t begin until 2014, the permitting and final design part of the project will take about one year to complete.

“To move forward, we have to prepare and submit the permit application to the Florida DEP (Department of Environmental Protection) and the Corps of Engineer (U.S. Army Corps of Engineer) and seek bids before the county can be ready to go,” said Walther.
