Dead loggerhead washes ashore

A dead loggerhead turtle discovered on Navarre Beach on Jan. 16 provided Cathy Holmes an opportunity to incorporate it into the future Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center.

“This is great for educational purposes,” said Holmes, conservation center project director.

Holmes was able to have a necropsy performed on the turtle by Mark Nicholas, a biologist with the Gulf Islands National Seashore.
