Ferrell Tibbs will retire from the Navarre Beach Water Department at the end of the year

For the leaseholders on Navarre Beach, Dec. 22 will mark the end of an era. After 15 years of working at the Navarre Beach Water Department and 18 years as a county employee, Ferrell Tibbs will retire.

Tibbs has worked for Navarre Beach Water & Sewer Department since December 1997. “I was working in the Clerk of Courts office, when a friend called telling me of a job opening at Navarre Beach Water and Sewer Department,” Tibbs said. “I thought it would be great to get paid to go to the beach every day. I applied for the position and when Terry Wallace, Navarre Beach Supervisor, called for an interview, I was hopeful. The rest, as they say, is history."
