The Navarre Beach Fishing Pier is constructed with wood panels that are designed to blow out if the water level rises.
“As the waves get higher and start to consistently exert pressure on the bottom of the pier, the intent is the panels are lifted out,” explained Wayne Lasche, design and construction project manager. “Rather than the panels holding tight and the structure having to withstand the force, they are designed to blow out.”
